Miles: One Month

I'm 1 Month Old!!

Weight and Length
We have not been to the doctor for another check up, but he is growing like a weed! He is huge!

Clothing Size
Miles is now wearing 3 month clothes. He really only wore newborn clothes for the first week or two. Like I said, he is a big boy!

Sleep
Sleep is not great, but that is to be expected at this point. He goes down around 7:00 or 8:00. We bathe him, feed him a bottle, and he goes to sleep. He is still waking up between every hour and a half and 2 and a half hours. There have been a few nights that he gave me a 3 hour stretch, but not many. The good news is that when he wakes up I feed him, change him, and he falls right back to sleep. He is sleeping in the pack n play in our room still, and we swaddle him nice and tight.

His naps change daily. Some days he will take 4 naps that last almost 2 hours each, and other days he will only nap for 30 minute at a time. The first few weeks he would nap in the swing, or in the pack n play downstairs. Now he is napping in his crib, swaddled, with the white noise.

It honestly hasn't been too bad getting up with him every 2 hours at night, because I know this is only temporary. It is much easier this time around, knowing that this stage will pass sooner rather than later.....and he's pretty darn cute which makes it easier too!

Eating
He is beginning to settle into more of a schedule now. The first few weeks it seemed like he wanted to eat every hour! Now he will eat every 2 to 3 hours. I am exclusively breastfeeding, so at least it is easy to feed him that often. I have started pumping some so we can give him bottles. We gave him a bottle for the first time around 3 weeks, and he has done great with the bottle as well as nursing. He is similar to Emory in the fact that he doesn't eat for long periods of time. He will usually eat for 8-10 minutes at a time. I think this could be why he eats so often.

Favorite Activities/Milestones
There isn't really much to write about at this point. He really only eats, sleeps, poops, and pees. Speaking of peeing, he is peeing like a champ! Why is that such a good thing??? It means that his right kidney is working perfectly!!! He also likes to pee all over us! Changing a boys is MUCH more different than changing a girl. When we are changing his diaper and he pees, it shoots across the room! I am learning now that I have to have a diaper ready to cover him when I change his diaper.

He had his first real bath this month. The first time in the bathtub he was not very happy, but now he loves it! He can be screaming his head off, but as soon as he gets in the water he is perfectly fine.

His hair is looking pretty funny! He is loosing all of the hair on the top of his head, but the hair is getting so long on the back of his head. He looks pretty goofy, but still cute.

Month 1
This first month has flown by. I have really enjoyed getting to spend this time with Miles. We have still been taking Emory to daycare, even though I am off work until January. At first I felt pretty guilt, but then I realized that I need to spend this time with Miles. Also, Emory has so much more fun playing at daycare than being cooped up in the house with me and Miles.

This month has been filled with lots of visitors. Shea, Allison, Montgomery, Leela, Kristy, the Kuo family, Carolyn, Jennifer, Gina, and Traci have all come to see Miles and bring us dinner. I'm sure I left someone off that list, but I'm sleep deprived, sorry. The ladies from the church have also been bringing us dinner, and also others from Belmont. We appreciate it more than anyone will know! It is such a huge help. The Hahn's and my family have all made visits this month. It has been a busy, but exciting time!

Emory really loves her brother! The first thing she says in the morning is Miles. She can't wait to go see him. She loves to kiss him on the top of his head and tickle him. She has even named all of her baby dolls Miles.

Miles has been a great baby so far. He gets a fussy around 6:00 at night, but other than that he is pretty easy going. He does not like to take a pacifier, which has its pros and cons.

I can't wait to see what next month has in store!
