Sleep
Sleep has still been perfect! It makes SUCH a difference in my day now that I am able to sleep an entire night without waking up! She falls asleep around 7 and only wakes up around 6:30 or 7:00am. There were a few weeks this month that she would just sit up and cry in her crib when we put her down, but after about 10 minutes she would be sound asleep. Her naps at home are going great as well. She's still taking 2 naps a day and they usually last about an hour and a half. However, one Saturday when I was home with her she took a 3 hour nap. I think she is catching up on all that sleep she misses at daycare. I had to go in and check on her to make sure she was sill breathing. I couldn't believe she slept that long. As usual, her naps at daycare are still terrible. She usually takes one 30 minute nap and that's it! They called me once this month from daycare saying she was really fussy, and they didn't know why. Of course it was because she was tired. They finally got her to fall asleep, but only for 20 minutes. It's so frustrating! Obviously she is tired, because she naps so well at home!
Eating
I am still pumping and giving her a bottle, and she is eating a bottle about every 4 hours. We have tried a ton of new foods this month. She is also trying finger foods! It took her a few weeks to get the hang of the whole finger food thing. She started out with some little pieces of bread. At first she refused to use her hands. I put a piece of bread in the palm of my hand and she leaned forward and grabbed it with her mouth. Then I placed it on a box and she picked the box up with her hands, brought it to her mouth, and picked the bread up with her mouth. The I thought that if I placed the bread on the floor she would HAVE to use her hands...nope. She scooted backwards so that she could bend over at the waist and eat it off the floor with her mouth. Seriously one of the funniest things I have ever seen her do. I kept putting it in her hand and trying to show her how to feed herself, and finally she figured it out. At first she would pick it up with the palm of her hand, but now she is starting to use her thumb and finger. Martin was feeding her some of the little baby puffs and every time she put one in her mouth we would say "YAY!!!" and clap really loud. She loved it! After a few times she would put it in her mouth, look at us with a smile on her face waiting for us to cheer, and when we cheered she would throw her hands in the air and yell. Adorable. We have given her a variety of finger foods this month, and she really seems to enjoy feeding herself.

This month she also started to like fruit. Before she would not have anything to do with fruit. She would make the most awful face and then refuse to open her mouth. Something changed recently, and now she will eat almost any fruit. It has been nice to have a little more variety in what we can feed her.
Favorite Activities/Milestones
Emory is still crawling like crazy, but this month she finally started crawling like a normal child on her hands and knees. She still does the army crawl every now and then, but for the most part she is crawling on her hands and knees.
This month she also pulled herself up to a standing position! She pulled herself up on the foot rest in the living room. We had a small box that her booster chair came in, and she loves to try and stand when she is hold onto that box. She puts both hands on the box while leaning forward and eventually makes it up on all fours.
She started making some funny noises this month. She makes noises with her mouth and then takes her fingers and moves them over her lips. We will look at her and make the noise with our fingers and lips and then she copies us.
Unfortunately she had another double ear infection at the beginning of this month. She had a cold for almost 2 weeks, and when we went for her 9 month check up the doctor said she had an ear infection. The crazy thing is that we never knew. She never acted like her ears were bothering her...she's a tough little girl. I do think this ear infection made her a little clingy. For about a week straight this month all she wanted to do was be held. As soon as you put her down she would scream. It only lasted for about a week, and now she's back to herself.
Emory had LOTS of teeth come in this month. She now has 7 teeth...4 on the bottom and 3 on the top (the 4th one on the top will be in any day). Her top front teeth are so far apart! Unfortunately for her, I think she may have some crazy teeth like I did.
Emory has been so cuddly lately! She loves to lay her head on your shoulder, or on your lap, or even on Sage! She won't stay there for long, but that little bit of cuddle time is the best. She is also giving Martin kisses. He will give her a kiss, and then look at her and say "Give daddy a kiss". Then she leans over and puts her lips on his. She is quickly becoming a daddy's girl.
Month 9
This month Martin and I took a trip to Mecosta, Michigan for our friends' wedding. We left on a Friday morning and came back Sunday afternoon. This was the first time that we had left Emory overnight...and over the weekend! Martin's parents came down to Nashville to watch her while we were gone. I was VERY anxious about leaving her. Of course I knew she was in great hands, but I just did not want to leave her. We had a great time at the wedding, and Emory was great with Martin's parents. It was nice to have a weekend to ourselves.
This month Emory got to spend some time with her friend Lane. We went to watch some football over at Cam and Gina's house. Emory had a great time with Lane, and I can't wait to watch them grow up together.
Finally to close out our month we made a trip to Atlanta for Parker's baptism. Martin and I are Parker's Godparents, so it was really special that we got to be a part of their special day. We had a fun time in Atlanta with Josie, Bobby, Dustin, Scott, and Kathy. I can't believe how cute and big Parker is! He is only 4 months old, and he is as big as Emory!
It was another great month and I'm sure next month will be great also.
