| I'm 9 months old!!! |
| 8/28/2013 |
Emory went for her 9 month check up. She weighs 17lbs 14oz, which is the 45th percentile. She is 28 inches long. which is the 75th percentile.
Clothing Size She is still wearing 9 month clothing. She is also wearing some 12 month outfits.
Diaper Size
Emory is wearing size 3 diapers now and size 4 diapers at night.
Sleep
What a great month for sleep! Emory is sleeping from 7:00pm until 6:00am! This has been WONDERFUL! She falls asleep as soon as she finishes her nighttime bottle and then wakes up in the morning. A few times she has woken up in the middle of the night, but she puts herself back to sleep.
Her naps when she is at home have still been great. She still sleeps for up to an hour and a half. She has dropped her third nap, so she takes two naps now. One nap around 9:00 and then again sometime in the afternoon. Naps at daycare are still terrible. She usually takes one 30 minute nap and that's it!
Eating
I am still pumping and giving her a bottle, and she is eating a bottle about every 4 hours. She is eating solids for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. At her 9 month check-up the doctor told us that we can start feeding her finger foods, meat, dairy, really anything except for honey. We haven't tried any new foods yet, but I am excited to see how she likes them.
Favorite Activities/Milestones
Emory's big milestone this month was CRAWLING!!! Of course, she doesn't crawl like most babies, she has decided to army crawl. It is one of the funniest things I have ever seen! She crawls on her belly, and pushes off with her feet and her forearms. It's not the prettiest crawl, but she sure is fast. It has made life a LOT more interesting. When she sees something she wants she goes after it 100%, She loves to go after Sage's toys. One time I turned around for just a second and Emory had Sage's bone in her hand and the biggest smile on her face. We have to make sure all dog toys are off the floor now!
This month she has started making more noises. She has officialyl said "dada", "baba", and "mama". I'm sure she doesn't understand what these words mean, but at least she is making the right sounds. She does lots of mumbling to herself, she has the sweetest little voice. She also had another tooth come in this month! Her top left tooth has broken through on August 9th and is on its way in. (Josie, I need some help learning the teeth numbers!) She is also trying to pull up. Towards the end of the month she would pull herself up to her knees...she's so close to standing!
Her favorite activity this month has been crawling. She has also enjoyed playing under the table at daycare. I went to pick her up, and when I walked in the room I didn't see her. Her teacher pointed to the table and said, "she's been playing under the table all day." Sure enough, she was lying on her belly playing with a toy under the little kiddy table. They said she was playing with a ball and it rolled under the table, so she crawled under the table to get it and ended up staying under there. Then she would roll the ball under the table on purpose, so she could crawl under there and get it. So funny! She also started playing a cute game with Martin. Recently she has been taking her toys and handing them to us. We say, "thank you, Emory" and then give the toy back to her because she starts reaching for it. She started doing the same thing with her pacifier. She would take it out of her mouth and hold it out for Martin to grab. Instead of grabbing it with his hands, he took the back of the pacifier in his mouth. Emory thinks its great, and she just smiles at him. It's almost like she is thinking, "silly daddy, that's not for you." Then when Martin has it in his mouth she reaches up, takes it out of his mouth, and puts it in her mouth. She loves playing with her daddy. This month she also gave Martin a few eskimo kisses. Martin would give her an eskimo kiss, then she would lean in to give him one too. Precious!
Month 8
What a month! This month we took a trip to Birmingham to see my parents. Emory and I drove down on Friday night, and my parents drove up from Pensacola Saturday morning. Martin decided to stay in Nashville to get some work done around the house. So...this was my first road trip alone with Emory. I was extremely nervous about being in the car alone with her. We left Friday night around her bedtime. I thought she would fall asleep and we would have a peaceful 3 hour drive. Boy was I wrong.....very very wrong. She did really well the first half of the trip, but as soon as we got to Huntsville, she lost it. She started crying and did not stop until we got to Birmingham. I felt awful for her! I would pull over and hold her and she was crying so hard she could barely catch her breath. I think she was overly tired and just couldn't fall asleep. We finally made it to Birmingham after 4 and a half hours. We stayed the night with my friend Katie. I am so glad Emory got to meet Katie! The next morning we woke up and met my parents at the zoo. This was Emory's first trip to the zoo and she loved it! She really enjoyed the flamingos and riding on the train. After the zoo we headed back to the hotel room, went swimming in the pool, walked to get dinner at Moe's, and spent the rest of the night hanging out. We headed back to Nashville Sunday morning, and the ride back was MUCH better!!! She only slept for about 45 minutes, but the rest of the time she just hung out in her car seat. Despite the car ride down to Birmingham we had a great trip! We are going to do this more often, so my parents can get some quality Emory time.
This month Emory also spent a day swimming with her friend Lane. Our friends, Cam and Gina, live a few miles up the road, and we went to the pool with Cam and Lane. Emory and Lane had a great time! We bought them floats, and they just relaxed and enjoyed the water.
This month has been great! Lots of fun changes, she is growing and changing daily!
