Emory: 8 Months

I'm 8 months old!!!
7/20/2013
Weight and Length
We have not been back to the doctor this month. She will be weighed at her 9 month check up

Clothing Size
She is still wearing some 6-9 month clothes...but  fits comfortably in 9 month clothes.
Diaper Size
Emory is still wearing size 2 diapers and size 3 diapers at night.

Sleep
Every month it seems like her sleep habits improve. This month she has been sleeping through the night more often than not. Some nights she will wake up around 5:00, I'll feed her and she's right back to sleep. There have been a few nights that she woke up and wouldn't go back to sleep for a few hours. This was a little frustrating, but lucky this only happened a few nights. She's still going to sleep around 7:00 and will usually sleep until 6:00. It is great!
Her naps when she is at home have been great. She will usually sleep for up to an hour and a half. She will go to sleep around 9:00 and then again sometime in the afternoon. She will take two longer naps during those times and a short 30 minute nap around 4:00. Naps at daycare are still terrible. She usually takes one 30 minute nap and that's it!

Eating
I am still pumping and giving her a bottle, and she is eating a bottle about every 4 hours. She is eating solids for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. She still loves veggies and hates fruit! We did mash a banana up for her instead of giving her the gerber bananas......she actually ate it! The doctor told us that some babies find the pre-made fruit to be a little sour, and she suggested that we try and make the fruit for her. Like I said, it seems to have worked with the bananas, but we tried to give her peaches and she still hated them. Overall everything has been about the same as far as her eating goes.
She had her first bad diaper rash this month. It was pretty bad, and I guess it is due to her eating solids now.

Favorite Activities/Milestones
She is finally sitting up on her own! She is much stronger, and she is learning to catch herself when she falls. Her first two teeth came in this month! The bottom left tooth was the first to come in on 6/18, then the right front tooth came in on 6/26. She had a rough few days this month while those teeth were pushing through. I'm going to miss that toothless grin!
Emory now loves the pool! I think the key is making sure the water isn't cold. We went to Pensacola this month to visit my family and we thought we would see how Emory liked the pool. Well, she loved it! She enjoyed splashing and kicking her feet.

Month 7
Every month her personality gets stronger and stronger. We had a great month! The highlight of the month was our trip to Pensacola to see my family. She got to meet a lot of the family, swim in the pool, and go to the dog park with Sage. She was great in the car too! She is starting to learn how to get what she wants. She has decided that she does NOT want anything on her head. When we try to put hats on her head she immediately rips them off. Also, when she doesn't want to be held she will push your hands away. Probably my favorite thing that she started doing this month is being shy. When someone new walks into the room and you are holding her, she will smile at the person and then bury her head in your shoulder. Then she looks at the person, smiles again, and buries  her head in your shoulder. It is the cutest and sweetest thing ever!!! Even when she is lying on the floor and someone new walks in she smiles and buries her head into the floor. What a fun month it has been!!!
