Weight and Length
Emory won't officially be weighed and measured until her 2 year check-up
Clothing Size
She is wearing 18-24 month clothes, but most of her 18 month clothes are getting small.
Sleep
Sleep is still the same... which is a good thing! She is going to bed around 7:00 and waking up around 6:30. There were a lot of times these few months that she slept until 7:30! She still loves to read books before bed. She still loves the usual books, but now she is starting to want to read Dr. Seuss books. She still sleeps with her baby doll and a blanket. When we put her in the crib, she rolls over on her belly, cuddles up with her baby doll, and hands you her blanket to cover her up.
Eating
She is eating about the same. No major changes.
Favorite Activities/Milestones:
Here are some of her new activates these past 2 months.
1. Emory had her first haircut! Mindy cut her bangs to keep them out of her eyes. Mindy told Emory to look up at the sky, it was so cute to see her looking up while Mindy was cutting her hair.
2. She still loves to jump, but now she can actually get both feet off the ground!
3. Her vocabulary improves daily! I love hearing her talk. She is starting to put 2 to 3 words together now. I can't list all of her new words and phrase, because there are new ones daily. She is also getting better at saying some of the words and phrases that she has been saying for a while now. One of my favorite words this month is "yes". She says yes all the time now, when she use to just say "no". Her yes is so sweet, and I love that she can answer our questions now. I also love to hear her say "oh nooooo" She drags it out and makes it really dramatic. "oh noooooooo".
4. She is singing more and more. She loves to sing her "daddy song" She will sing "daddy, daddy, daddy, daddy", then "mommy, mommy, mommy, mommy", then "sage, sage, sage, sage", she will add in lots of names like papa, grann, miles, nana, ect. She will also sing to her baby dolls, you will hear her singing "baby, baby". Also this month we heard her humming. She was playing with her toys just humming along.
5. She is still peeing in her potty. She pees before bedtime, and sometimes during the day. We will ask her if she wants to pee in her potty and she will go sit on it and pee. She isn't to the point of telling us she has to go, but at least she knows how to use it!
6. Daddy painted her toenails! Usually I paint them, but she found nail polish and asked Martin to paint them. He did a great job.
7. She recently started calling her pacifier a "me me". It took me a while to figure out what she was wanting when she said me me. Then we found out that all the kids in her class call it a me me, so I guess that is where she picked it up. She always wants to give her baby dolls a me me. She has 2 me mes that she gives to her baby dolls. She knows not to use them for herself, and when she sees them she says "baby me me".
8. Emory discovered my makeup! She sees me putting on my makeup, and she wants to also. I set her on my stool and gave her some makeup and a brush. She had blush and eye shadow ALL over her face. She was so happy though. She kept looking in the mirror and smiling.
9. She moved up to a new class at day care. She is now in the preschool 1 class. I was nervous that she would have a breakdown the first few days in her new class, but she actually did really well. Almost all of the kids from her old class moved up to the new class. I think the fact that they all moved up together really helped her adjust. Her new teachers are great, and Emory really likes them. They help them potty train in this new room which is great!
10. Emory tried to bite a kid at school for the first time. Her teacher said she only bit the kid's clothes, and they caught her before she actually bit him. I thought we were going to miss the biting stage, but I guess not. When we left school that day, I sat Emory down and had a talk with her. I explained that biting was bad, and we only used our mouths for eating and kissing. She told me she understood. She tried to bite me a few days later, when I tried to get her out of the trampoline at gymnastics. I talked to her again. I asked her if she knew why she was in trouble, and she said "bite bite". At least she knows that it is wrong. She hasn't tried to bite since then, so lets hope that she is learning.
11. We started Emory in a gymnastics class. She loves it! Her friends Molly and Ruby are taking the class too. They have them stretch and sing a song at the beginning of each class. Then they have several stations with activities like a bar to swing from, a tunnel to climb through, a balance beam, and some wedge things for them to tumble down. Emory just runs from station to station. Her favorite part of gymnastics is jumping on the trampoline, but they only let one kid at a time jump...and she does not like having to share. At the end of the class they come together and do an activity like play with a huge ball, blow bubbles, and play with the parachute. She really has a great time. She is getting better at sitting still and listening, but she really just wants to run around and go crazy the entire time.
12. Bobby is staying with us 3 nights a week while he finished his last semester of classes at Vanderbilt. Martin and I had a CE dinner to go to one night, and Bobby stayed home to babysit Emory. Emory was fine when we left, but apparently when it was bath time Emory started crying for Mommy. Bobby said she cried the entire bath. She stood against the wall crying and wouldn't get in the bath. Once he got her in the bath she wouldn't sit down, she just stood there crying. She cried while he read her a book and sang to her. She stood in the crib and cried for a while, and then she finally fell asleep. I am really surprised that she did this, because she loves Bobby! She gets so excited when he is here at the house. We are very thankful that Bobby watched her that night and let us go out to dinner. I just hope he will want to watch her again, seeing as that she was a little difficult.
13. I took Emory to ride Thomas the Train the last weekend in August. We got to see Thomas and ride on an actual train for 20 minutes. She loved it! When she woke up that morning I told her we were going to ride a train. All morning she kept saying "choo choo". They gave her a certificate during the ride that said she was a junior conductor. She kept holding the certificate saying "choo choo".
14. She has been trying to tickle people lately. She thinks its hilarious. At gymnastics she kept running to Molly trying to tickle her. She also loves to tickle Martin.
15. She does the cutest fake sneeze, Every time someone sneezes Emory will make her sneezing noise. It is so dainty and delicate.
16. She likes to flex her muscles. Martin tried to teach her to kiss her muscles and then flex, but she would just kiss her wrists. Sometimes she even shakes her whole body really hard when she is flexing.
17. Last but not least Emory is becoming very interested in her new baby brother. She points to my belly and says "baby baby". She will lift my shirt up and kiss my belly button. One time she even pointed to my belly button and said nose. She likes to bring toys to my belly too. She will find little baby toys and bring them to my belly and say "baby baby". I was putting up some of the baby's bibs. Emory kept taking them out putting them on my belly. She really really loves this baby!
Months 21-22
Emory and I had a lot of fun trips over these past 2 months. We went to the zoo several times, Opry Mills, and to the Monkey's Treehouse. She had a great time playing at the Monkey's Treehouse.
The biggest event over these past 2 months has been the birth of Miles Bennett Hahn! He was born September 2nd, and Emory has been a great big sister so far. Martin brought Emory up to the hospital to meet Miles. She was SO sweet to Miles! She kept saying "baby, baby!" Martin got Emory a stuffed animal and a coloring book and told her they were presents from Miles. when Emory opened them, she tried to give her presents to Miles. So so sweet. She likes to bring him a "night night" and a "me me". Overall she has been adjusting well. She likes to give him kisses on the head, and she has even started calling all of her babies Miles. I thought she would be jealous of me holding Miles, but to my surprise she hasn't cared about me at all. She has been super jealous of Martin though. When Martin holds Miles Emory screams and wants Martin to pick her up. Emory stayed home with us and Kathy the first week that Miles was born. We tried to take her to daycare the second week. She has more fun at daycare, and it is hard for me to pay enough attention to Miles while she is running around the house. She did great at daycare on Monday, but on Tuesday we had to go pick her up because she wouldn't stop crying. She seems to be doing better today, but hopefully she will adjust and learn to love daycare again.
