Ringing In The New Year

It does not feel like 2012 is already over! Of course with the new baby, our New Years celebration was pretty boring, but I wouldn't have wanted it any other way! My parents came into town the Friday before New Years to celebrate Christmas, and mostly to see Emory.

Martin went back to work on Saturday...his first day back in 6 weeks. I'm sure it was hard for him to leave. I was not looking forward to him going back to work. It has been so great having him home with us. He helps us out so much! Saturday was a rainy day here in Nashville, so my parents and I spent the entire day inside loving on Emory. It also snowed on Saturday.

Sunday was as a cold, but pretty day. My parents went for a run, and of course spent the rest of the time with Emory.

Emory had one of her first real smiles this weekend! Martin and I had noticed around Christmas time that she looked like she was about to smile a few times. Then this weekend when my mom was holding her she was wide awake looking at my mom and smiling! It was the cutest thing I have ever seen. Of course it made me cry. She's smiling more and more each day. She's becoming much more alert and aware of her surroundings. She will lie on her play mat now and actually look at all of the toys and lights. She is so happy on that thing! She just kicks her feet, waves her arms and it looks like she is dancing to the music.

Our New Years Eve celebration consisted of take-out, football, and going to bed about 10:00. We didn't even make it up to see the ball drop. My parents even went to bed before Emory did!

My parents headed back to Pensacola on Tuesday after they ran a 5K here in Nashville. They both did a great job! My dad finished 3rd out of 18 people in his age group and my mom came in 6th out of 20 people in her age group. They could both out run me at this point! I hate it when they leave. It was great having there here while Martin started back at work. It made the transition a little easier. I sure with they lived closer, but I know Emory will love her trips to the beach!

Today was my first day home alone with Emory. So far so good! We will see how it goes.

2012 was a great year filled with so many blessings! We purchased our first home, had our first child, and learned that Emory is going to have a cousin soon! Can't wait for all that 2013 has in store for our family.
