I'm 2 months old!

Weight and Length
Emory is now 11 lbs 4 oz and 23.5 inches long. That is the 60th percentile for weight and 85-90th for height. Looks like she might be tall like her parents!
Clothing size
Emory has officially outgrown her newborn clothes. I had my mom help me pack them up...it was kind of sad. I know this is just the beginning of her outgrowing clothes, but she is just growing so fast! She is wearing size 0-3 months now, and she's even outgrowing some of those outfits. Over the past month she has grown a good amount in length....her chunky little legs are too long for a lot of clothes.
Diaper size
Emory is now wearing a size 1 diaper. I have officially decided that we are switching from Huggies to Pampers. The Huggies are so difficult to put on her, and they seem to leak a majority of the time. (and yes I blame it on the diapers and not my diaper changing skills)
Sleep
I'm really hesitant to write anything about her sleep habits here...I'm afraid I will jinx it! Emory has been sleeping like a CHAMP! I am beyond happy with how well she is doing in this area. This sure has made this month easier. Ever since we returned from Atlanta for Christmas she has been sleeping 6-7.5 hours every night. I have to give credit to my awesome sister-in-law, Josie. She told me about this book, Moms on Call. They are a group of pediatric nurses based out of Atlanta that make house calls and help with basic newborn care and sleep habits. They also have a book on these topics that you can order online. Sure there are numerous sleep books out there, and I'm sure their advice is similar to most of those other books. So why do I love this book so much? Well first of all its extremely easy to read. The entire book in written in bullet points. So instead of reading 100+ pages of print, they get right to the point...and I love it! They really focus on a bedtime routine. I never thought about establishing a routine, we just kind of put her to sleep when we were ready for bed. Now we have a routine of bath time, feeding, and then off to bed. They also stress the importance of swaddling and the use of white noise. Every night we swaddle her tight, and turn on the white noise machine and she is sleeping so well! They also say that when she wakes for her nighttime feeding, keep the room quiet and dark so she will fall right back to sleep. It's hard not to talk to her when I feed her at night, but if I keep quiet she will fall right back to sleep after the feeding.
Emory is finally sleeping in her crib! When we returned home after Christmas we decided to let her sleep in the crib instead of the Pack N Play. I wasn't quite ready to put her in that big crib all alone at night, so I moved a mattress onto the floor in her nursery and slept in there for about a week. She did so well that I decided to try and sleep in our bed and just watch her on the video monitor. I think it was harder for me than it was for her! (actually I know it was harder for me). She does a great job in the crib, and I imagine it is much more comfortable for her. Overall she has been sleeping very well, and I hope that she keeps it up. I am a much happier and productive person when I have sleep :)
Eating
She is eating about every 2 or 2.5 hours. I'm not sure if she isn't getting enough at each feeding, but she has never really gone more than 2.5 hours without eating unless she is asleep. She seems to be gaining weight, and she has PLENTY of wet/dirty diapers so I think things are going well in the eating department!
Favorite Activities
She is much more alert and aware of her surroundings now. She still loves her play mat! When we put her on the play mat and turn on the music her eyes get big and she looks all around. She also loves to look at the fan and lights...and she's even discovered the TV! Yesterday Martin was holding her and she couldn't take her eyes off of the TV. She still loves to eat and cry, but her crying has improved a lot over the past month. She still fusses in the evenings, but not nearly as long. Emory's favorite activity of all has to be bath time! As soon as she hits that bath water she is so alert and happy. No matter how upset she is before the bath, as soon as she is in the water she is as content as can be.
Month 2
This has been such a fun month! Emory is much more interactive now and much more fun. Don't get me wrong, I loved the newborn stage, but it is great to have her look at you and smile at you now. This month her sleep has improved greatly and her fussiness has decreased. This month was filled with her first road trip, and visits from her grandparents. This month she had her first real smile, she found out that she is going to have a cousin named Parker, and she got to meet a lot of new people.
She went to the doctor for her 2 month check-up. The doctor said she looked great. The bad thing about this appointment was that she had to receive her first round of shots. They gave her 3 shots in the leg, and one vaccine by mouth. She screamed her head off after the shots, and it broke my heart! We finally calmed her down and she slept the entire day and night....she must have been exhausted from all of that stress.
Every day Emory changes a little bit, and does something new. This was a month of a lot of changes, and I can't wait to see what month 3 has in store!
