Miles: 7 Months

I'm 7 months old!!!

Clothing Size
He is still able to fit into a few of his 9 month onsies, but every thing else is 12 months. He is wearing size 2 diapers and size 3 night diapers.

Sleep
Sleep is much better! We bathe him around 6:30, the he drinks his bottle and goes right to bed. As soon as we put him in the crib he rolls over onto his stomach and goes to sleep. He is only waking up once a night now. He will wake up any time between 11 and 3. I will change him, feed him and he goes right back to sleep. After that he wakes up at 5:00am and will not go back to sleep. So although it is nice to get some nice stretches of sleep, waking up at 5:00 every morning is getting old.
His naps are getting to be more predicable now as well. He is taking 3 naps a day. He takes an hour or 2 hour nap around 8, an hour nap around 12:30, and a shorter nap around 4.

Eating
He is still eating every 3 hours. He has been eating anywhere between 4-8oz a time. I am still exclusively pumping and giving him breast milk. We started solids this month! We started with rice cereal twice a day. After a week or so we introduced green beans, then peas, then squash, then carrots, and now sweet potatoes. He did NOT like the green beans, but he has liked everything else. His green bean face was great! He would take a bite, and then act like he was about to vomit. He is now eating 3 times a day. We will introduce fruit soon.

The biggest change this month has been in my diet! At his 6 month check-up he has mucus in his stool, so Dr. Ragsdale checked it for blood. Turns out he also had blood in his stool. She told us the most common cause of this is a sensitivity to dairy in the mom's diet. So she said I needed to cut all dairy out of my diet. I thought it wouldn't be too bad, just no milk or cheese. WRONG! Every thing has dairy! EVERYTHING! Butter is one of the hardest things to avoid, because it seems to be in all kinds of foods. It has been really difficult, but it seems to be working. They tested his stool after 2 weeks of my dairy free diet, and there was no more blood! There is still mucus, but at least the blood is gone. If the mucus doesn't go away soon I will have to cut soy out of my diet as well. This is tough!

Favorite Activities/Milestones
1. Miles had his first 2 teeth come in this month!!! His bottom left tooth poked through on March 23rd, and the bottom right tooth came through a few days later.  You could tell it was pretty painful for him. He would yell and try to chew on everything. He loved chewing on a cold wash cloth. It seemed to make his gums feel better.
2. He is jumping like crazy in his bouncer. He jumps and jumps and jumps!
3. The other thing he likes to do in his bouncer is poop! As soon as we put him in there he poops! The same thing happens when we put him in the walker. Every. Single. Time.
4. He is still rolling everywhere. Now he is also getting on his hands and knees and rocking back and forth. He will also do a plank. He pushes up is feet and hands in a plank position. He is SO strong.
5. We have started bathing him in the bath seat now. It is much easier than the baby bathtub.
6. He loves bath time! He kicks and laughs in the water. I can't wait to take him to the pool soon.
7.He was showing off for Dr. Ragsdale at his 6 month check up. She put him on his belly so she could see how well he was doing with tummy time. Well he sure showed her! He started pushing up and getting into his plank position. It was pretty cute.
8. He has been slamming his right hand down on the high chair and even in the bathtub. It's almost like he is saying "give me my food now!"
9. He is still very vocal. He loves to yell for no reason at all. He also likes to try and make the same noises that Emory makes. I have been feeding them both breakfast at the same time, and I set their chairs next to each other. He just looks at Emory and cracks up if she yells, and then he tries to yell too.

Month 6
March started out cold, but ended with great weather. My mom spent the beginning of the month watching Miles. She actually had to change her flight to leave a day early, because we were expecting snow and she had a job interview. Good thing she changed it! It snowed like crazy. The following week Kathy came in to watch Miles. Martin and I were even able to get away for a date night at the Brazilian Steakhouse. Kathy left on the 18th, and now our real routine will begin. We will never be able to thank Kathy and my mom enough! Being able to keep Miles out of daycare for 7 months has been the biggest blessing. They cooked, cleaned, washed clothes, and most importantly loved on Miles. This made my transition back to work wonderful! Miles was home the last week of March with Martin, and he starts daycare the first week of April.
The weather is getting nicer now, and Miles has been able to get outside. We have taken him on a few walks, and let his swing on the swing set. He is a great baby and so so happy.
