1. Emory can count to 10! Sometimes she likes to skip the number 6, but she is getting the hang of it.
2. Emory is getting better at saying her ABCs. My favorite part it when she says L,M,N,O,P. I think she thinks LMNOP is all one letter.
3. The biggest accomplishment this month is that she gave up her paci!!! As I am typing this I still can't believe that she did this, and it was SO easy. Honestly I never thought she would give it up, and if she did give it up I thought it would be a nightmare. Shea had just given birth to Finley, and I was going to visit her at the hospital. I asked Emory if she wanted to give her pacis to baby Finley. I thought she would say no, especially since she had no clue who baby Finley was. To my surprise she said, " Yes, Emory give paci to baby Finley." So before I left for the hospital I had Emory put all of her pacis in a plastic bag. I told her multiple times that if I took these to Finley, she wasn't getting them back. That night I came home from the hospital and told her that baby Finley was using the pacis, and Emory was very excited. She kept saying "pacis are for babies, I don't need paci, baby Finley have my paci." That night Martin was getting ready to read her a book before bed, and she asked for her paci. Martin reminded her that baby Finley had them, and surprisingly Emory was perfectly fine. Since that night, she has only asked for it one more time when she was really upset. I am still shocked that she gave it up so easily, and her sleep hasn't been interrupted at all. I guess she was just ready.
4. Emory loves to give us "big kisses". She runs to us and presses her lips against our cheeks for a solid 5 seconds as hard as she possibly can.
5. She finally peed in the potty at school!!! Once she got over the fear of falling in, she has no problems peeing in the big potty now. She has been doing great using the potty at school. There has been a handful of times that she has gone all day without peeing in her diaper at all. We aren't 100% ready to get rid of the diapers at school, but we are making progress. At home she wears her "big girl undies" and does great. She will tell us when she needs to pee or poop and she will go on her potty. She will even go on the big potty at home as long as one of us is holding her. Before too long she will be totally potty trained.
6. Her new favorite show/movie is Alice in Wonderland. I recorded it on the DVR, and she wants to watch it non-stop! She calls it "Allison Lala Land." We even bought Finding Nemo and Frozen for her, but all she wants to watch is Alice. She hasn't watched Elmo much at all this month, which is shocking.
7. She has a toy phone that she has enjoyed playing with recently. She picks it up and speaks jibberish, acting like she is having a conversation with someone, then she says 'bye" and hangs the phone up. When we ask her who she is talking to she says "MoMo". Then we ask her what they are talking about and she says "Molly".
8. She is speaking in full sentences now. Her vocabulary is expanding, and she is starting to use words correctly. We ask her if something is hot and she says, "no it's warm." She is also very curious and has started asking 'What's that" or "What are you doing".
9. She tripped over Martin's foot and hit her nose of the refrigerator. I felt awful for her! She had a pretty bad bruise on her nose.
10. Good new is she peed in the potty at gymnastics. She told me she needed to pee, and she went. Bad news is that she didn't want to put her clothes back on. She ran out of the bathroom in other her pull up diaper and would NOT put her clothes back on, She jumped on the trampoline and swung on the bars for a solid 10 minute before she let me dress her.11. We have caught her multiple times sitting on Sage like a horse saying "gitty up puppy dog"
12. Emory loves to act like she is pumping when I am pumping.
February has been a loooooooooong month. It has been SO cold! I had to stay home with both kids for almost 5 days in a row because of the ice and snow. The good thing is that Emory was able to go sledding for the first time. Martin took her little plastic swimming pool, cut a hole in it, and tied a piece of rope to it. We took it to a hill in our neighborhood that was covered in ice. Martin and I both tried it out, but figured it wasn't safe to send Em down alone so Martin held the rope and walked down with her. She seemed to enjoy it.
We spent a fun night at the Conover's watching the Super Bowl. Emory played with Molly, Ruby, and Charlie, and Miles stayed home with Nana.
Emory and Miles both have a new cousin! Mason Hahn Reynolds was born at the end of this month, and we can't wait to meet him soon. Kathy was in town a lot this month watching Miles, and Emory loved spending time with Nana. They painted, danced, and cooked.
Emory had a Valentine's Day party at school. She was so excited to open all of her cards from her friends.
We ended the month of February with a visit from my parents. My mom spent a week here watching Miles, and my dad came up for a weekend. Emory was VERY excited to pick Papa up from the airport and see all the airplanes.
