Weight and Length
At her 15 month check-up Emory weighed 22 lbs, and was 31 3/4 inches long. That's the 35th percentile for weight at 85th percentile for height.
She is wearing 18 month clothes now, and a few 24 month shirts.
Sleep
Sleep is still going well. She usually wakes up around 6:30 or 7:00. One day she actually slept until 7:15! That's a record for her.
She is officially down to 1 nap a day. She takes her nap around 11:30 or 12:00, and she will sleep for about an hour and a half.
We are in the process of trying to wean her off the nighttime bottle. She has such a great bedtime routine that I am very nervous about messing it up, but I know it is time to get rid of that bottle. She knows when it is bedtime. I think she enjoys bedtime and bath time. We will say "are you ready to go night night?", and she will start crawling up the stairs towards the bathroom. As soon as bath time is over and we put her PJs on, we give her a bottle and read her a book. When she finishes the bottle she hands it to us, takes her paci, points at her crib and says "night night". She is every parent's dream as far as bed time goes!
Eating
As I said earlier she is still getting a bottle before bed. Other than that, she is getting her milk from a sippy cup. She is an excellent eater. She isn't picky, although she has her moments, but they are few and far between. She LOVES going out to eat. She likes seeing all the people and waving at them. Her favorite foods right now are pasta, blueberries, and oranges.
She is really getting good with her baby sign language. She can sign "more", "please", and "all done". When she wants more food she will do the sign for more, then we say "what do you say?", and she will do the sign for please. So polite :)
Favorite Activities/Milestones
So many new exciting things this month! I'm just going to list them all below.
1. Around 15 months her favorite thing to do was to stick her finger in her nose. She thinks it is hilarious! She puts her finger in her nose, looks at you with that devious smile, and then starts cracking up. She hasn't done this as much lately, but for a while she would do multiple times throughout the day.
2. She still likes to help out around the house. She enjoys going to the grocery store so she can see all of the people. When we get home from the grocery store I put the bags on the floor and she tires to put the groceries away. She will empty all of the bags, and even try to put some of the food in the refrigerator. Granted most of the time it doesn't belong there, but I love the fact that she is trying to be like momma. She also tries to help out by hanging her coat and hat up. When we come in from outside we take her coat and hat off. She will pick them up, walk to the coat rack, and point until we hang them up. She also likes to help Martin make coffee. She will even get her small coffee pot and act like she is pouring coffee.
3. Emory has started to dance!!! She LOVES music. As soon as she hears music she moves her head from side to side and bends her knees. Kathy and Scott were in town last month, we were upstairs in Emory's room and Kathy's phone rang. As soon as it started ringing Emory started dancing, she was bending her knees and moving her head. She liked that ring tone!
4. She is trying to talk on the phone. Obviously she can't do that, but when she has our phones she will hold them up to her ear like she is talking on them. She also does this with her toy phones, and really anything that remotely looks like a phone.
5. Probably my favorite new development is the animals noises that she makes She make the sounds of a chicken, monkey, lion, and dog. She was climbing on our treadmill last month (which she loves to do for some reason), and she kept looking at Martin and smiling...acting like she was about to jump off the treadmill.(and no, the treadmill is not turned on) I asked Martin, "what is she doing?", he said, "I think she's trying to play chicken with me." Emory just looked at him and said "bock bock", making her chicken sound. So so cute.
6. She is becoming very very vocal. She regularly says "mama", "dada", "night night", "bird", "ball", "dog", "bye bye", "no no", "uh oh" and "papa", When she isn't saying those words she is babbling non-stop. A few times she has started to put 2 words together. She has said "mama, bye bye" and "dada bye bye", but she has only done this a few times. I think she is going to keep us very entertained as she continues to grow up. One of my favorite words that she says is "no no". She only says this to Sage. We have tried to teach her that she does not say that to mommy and daddy, only Sage. Sage loves to sit next to the high chair when Emory eats and beg for food. When she gets a little too close Emory points her finger at Sage, shakes it, and says "no no". I absolutely love it!!!
One more word she has learned lately is "beer". Martin will get a beer from the refrigerator and as soon as Emory sees it she yells "beer!" Martin is very proud of this...I'm a little concerned that she inherited those Hahn drinking genes :) She also says "uh oh" when she falls, or drops something. Oh and one more phrase that is new "1 more". When she wants 1 more of something she will usually do the sign for more, but every now and then she will put one finger up and just say "more".
7. She has learned where most of her body parts are. She can point to her eyes, ears, nose, mouth, teeth, tongue, hair, head, cheeks, chin, legs, arms, hands feet, fingers, toes, and booty. The other day we asked her to point to her nose, momma's nose, and dada's nose, which she did. Then we asked her to point to Sage's nose. She got up walked across the room to Sage and pointed to her nose.
8. She has learned to climb up on the couch by herself...so we have to watch her like a hawk.
9. She loves to imitate everything that we do. If you all know Martin you know he is quite a sarcastic person. Martin will make a joke and then do this obnoxious laugh ( I guess I think its obnoxious because it is usually directed at me). Well recently Emory joins in and tries to do the same laugh. He thinks its hilarious, me not so much.
10. Just yesterday she stated doing something new...walking on her tip toes. Martin took her shoes off, and I noticed she was walking funny. I couldn't figure out what it was then I noticed she was trying to walk on her tip toes. Apparently one of the kids in her daycare class does that, so I guess she is trying to copy her. Emory thinks it is very funny.
11. She has also discovered what a boo boo is. She had a little scratch on her hand and we gave her a band aid. She thought the band aid was great. Now she points to her hand, even though there is nothing wrong with it, says boo boo, and then points to the cabinet where we keep the band aids. We have a book that has pictures of babies in it, and one baby has a band aid on his head. She will get the book, turn to that page, say boo boo, and point to the cabinet where we keep the band aids. She also likes to kiss the boo boo on Martin's hand. She points to it, says boo boo, and kisses it.
12. Although she has given kisses in the past, recently she has been giving them all of the time. She will kiss us when we pick her up from daycare, and randomly throughout the day. She will even kiss Sage, and my parents and brother when we talk to them on Skype.
13. The last thing I can think of is her new love of blankets. Any time she sees a blanket she tries to curl up with is, and she says "night night".
WOW! I can't believe how much she has started doing these past 2 months. Every day she does something new and adorable.
Months 12-14
As you can tell from above so much is changing. She is becoming a little girl right before our eyes. We had a few trips and outings over the past 2 months. Emory and I took a trip to Pensacola in February to see my family. We got a great deal on a flight...$100 round trip! Little did we know that our cheap trip would turn very expensive. The day before we left Emory had a slight temperature, but the morning of our trip she woke up fever free and very happy so we decided to go. This was her first trip on a plane, and it was just me and her...needless to say I was very nervous! Well I worried for nothing, because she did great on the flight! Luckily the flight wasn't full, so we got to have 3 seats to ourselves. Emory enjoyed lying on the seats and waving at the people. When we got to Pensacola she seemed to be feeling a little off, but not too bad. As the weekend went on, she got more and more sick. Finally, I decided to take her to urgent care. We were scheduled to fly home the next day, and I really wanted to wait it out so we could go home and see her doctor but she was looking pretty bad. The doctor at urgent care said she thought she had the flu and pneumonia, so she prescribed an antibiotic for the pneumonia. She also said that Emory shouldn't fly until she was fever free for at least 48 hours, because she was concerned about her breathing with the altitude changes. So we had to reschedule our flight, and we ended up flying back home on Friday. She did just as well on the flight home as she did on the flight there. It was great to get to see my family, I just hate that Emory had to be THAT sick the entire time. That is probably the sickest I have ever seen her. It was scary. So our cheap trip to Pensacola turned into a rather pricey trip after the trip to urgent care and the rescheduled flight. Oh well, the most important thing is that she is healthy!
On a lighter note, we took Emory to the Nashville zoo this month! My parents bought us a year-long pass to the zoo for Christmas. It finally got warm enough so we met Shea, Brandon, and Hudson at the zoo. The Nashville zoo is a little disappointing compared to other zoos that I have been to, but Emory seemed to enjoy herself. She really loved the monkeys! She saw them swinging and instantly started making her monkey sounds. She loves any outdoor activity, and I know we will make many more trips to the zoo!
Emory also had a class Valentine's Day party in February. The parents of the kid in her class brought snacks, and we got to hang out while the kids played at ate. It was fun to watch her interact with all of her friends.
Well, I think that about sums up the past 2 months. Can't wait to see what happens next!
