I'm 8 months old!!!
Clothing Size
He is wearing all 12 month clothes. I actually stopped putting him in his sleep sack at night, and just put him in footed PJs. We got 12 month PJs for him, and they are almost too tight! He is wearing size 3 diapers now.
Sleep
Sleep is about the same. We still bathe him around 6:30, then he drinks his bottle and goes right to bed. As soon as we put him in the crib he rolls over onto his stomach and goes to sleep. He is still waking up once a night usually around 4:00. He has been eating his bottle and going back to sleep. He has been waking up for good around 5:30. One time this month he actually slept through the entire night! He went to bed around 6:30 and didn't wake up until 5:45. I thought maybe we were turning a corner, but I was wrong! Just this past week he has been waking up twice a night. He has been waking up screaming! I feed him and he falls asleep, but then wakes up a few minutes later screaming again. Once he's finally back to sleep he wakes up a second time around 4:00 doing the exact same thing. He has done this for the past 2 nights. I am hoping it is just his teeth, and this will pass soon.
We haven't put him in his sleep sack at night. He now only sleeps in his PJs.
He started daycare this month! I was really worried that once he started daycare he wouldn't nap at all. So far that isn't the case. He has been sleeping pretty well at daycare. He usually takes 2 naps during the day. His morning nap is usually an hour or so and his afternoon nap just varies. I think he has completely dropped his third nap of the day. At the beginning of the month he would still take the evening nap, but lately he just screams and cries if I try to put him down for that nap.
Eating
I am still pumping and giving him a bottle every 3-4 hours. He has tried a lot of new foods this month. He tried corn and spinach, peaches, bananas, mangos, pears, and apples. He did NOT like the fruit. He makes a terrible face and refuses to open his mouth. He liked the bananas more than the other fruits, but he still wasn't crazy about them.
I have still been dairy free, but I also had to cut out soy this month. The blood in his stool went away, but the mucus did not improve at all. The doctor said that 50% of kids with a dairy intolerance also have a soy intolerance. So no more soy for me. Sounds easy, right? Surely nothing could be as hard as cutting out dairy? WRONG! Soy or soybean oil is everywhere, especially in bread. It has been really tough, but I want to do whatever I can to make sure he gets the nutrition he needs. His stools seem to be getting better, so fingers crossed that this gets better.
Favorite Activities/Milestones 1. The biggest milestone this month has been crawling!!! He is very very mobile now. At the beginning of the month he started scooting across the floor to get what he wanted, and by the end of the month he was crawling like a pro.
2. The other major milestone this month is that he is sitting up by himself. Now that he is crawling and sitting up there is no stopping him! He is a busy boy.
3. He started daycare this month. The transition was much easier than I anticipated. He started in the infant 2 class, since he was 7 months old. The teachers in his class are AMAZING!!!They are so loving, and nurturing and really love the kids. Luckily when he started there were only 5 kids in the class, instead of 8. I think this helped a lot, because he could get a lot more one on one time. When he started he was the youngest one in the class, and the only kid not sitting up and not crawling. It made me a little nervous at first, because he was rolling everywhere and would slam his head on the ground. The teachers did a great job watching his closely. Within the first 2 weeks that all changed! He started sitting up and crawling like all the others. I am convinced that it happened because he saw all the other kids doing it.
I was very nervous about his nap schedule when he started daycare. He was use to napping in his crib, in the dark, and with his sound machine. Also, Emory was an awful napper at daycare when she was an infant. She would go all day with only one 30 minute nap. Thankfully, Miles has been a great napper! He takes 2 naps a day, usually between 30 minutes to 2 hours each.
He really enjoys daycare. He loves being around the other kids. The first week they had him in the jumper, and a little girl crawled up to him, and he was cracking up! He is his usual happy self at daycare, and it makes going to work so much easier.
4. We took a trip to Atlanta for Easter this year, so Josie and Bobby didn't have to travel with Mason. Miles did GREAT in the car! He slept most of the time, and didn't cry at all. So much different than when Emory was that age.
5. I took Miles and Emory to Cheekwood and the Zoo one weekend this month while Martin was working. This was the first time I had taken them somewhere by myself, and I was a little nervous. Luckily is went great! We had a great time and Miles was a dream. He just sat in the stroller and looked around.
6. He got his first bad diaper rash this month. I guess that is to be expected with starting solids.
Month 7
April was a month of big milestones! Miles is sitting up and crawling. He has also started daycare. Time in flying by. The weather has been perfect. We have been taking advantage of it and getting outside as much as possible.
