Christmas 2013

We had a wonderful Christmas this year! I can't believe that it was Emory's second Christmas. We were lucky this year and we were able to spend time with both sides of our family.

We spent Sunday and Monday before Christmas with Martin's family in Clinton. Josie, Bobby and Parker were there, and Emory had fun getting to play with Parker.

Emory had a great time in Clinton!

Martin had to work Christmas day so we headed back to Nashville Tuesday night. On Christmas day my parents came up to see us. We had a great Christmas dinner and opened presents that night. On Thursday we went to Opry Mills and Emory rode the carrousel. She didn't really like sitting on the horse, but after we took her off the horse she seemed to enjoy the ride. After Opry Mills we went to the Opryland hotel to check out all of the Christmas decorations. This was the first time that I had been there. It was gorgeous! They have an indoor river and waterfall. They had a huge Christmas tree, and Emory loved checking it all out. They also had a train ride, but Emory didn't seem to enjoy it too much.

On Friday we took Emory to the Adventure Science Center. What a neat place! They had toy trains, a HUGE playground, live bees, an entire exhibit about the human body, and so much more. Emory LOVED it! They had a solar system exhibit with lights spinning on the floor. Emory loved running through the lights. She liked looking at all the people, walking around by herself, and playing with all the fun exhibits. This is seriously one of the coolest places for kids. I still think she's too small to really play with some of the stuff there, but she had a blast. We ended up buying a year long pass.

My parents headed back to Pensacola on Saturday, but before they left we had a delicious breakfast at the Loveless Café.

New Years Eve was exactly how I liked it....boring. I was actually in bed by 10:00. I had no desire to stay up late, and was very happy with our boring night.

I almost forgot about my trip to Orlando! At the beginning of December I went to a conference for work in Orlando. The best part about the trip was that I got to see Kevin! We went to Universal Studios, watched some football, and I got to meet his girlfriend, Hilary. I hate the he lives so far away, but I love every chance I get to see him! The conference was nice too. Although I always miss Emory and Martin, I must say it was great to sleep in!!! Kathy came and stayed with Emory during the week to help Martin out a little bit, which we greatly appreciated.

One last thing, Emory met Santa this year! We took Emory to Cheekwood Botanical Gardens to meet Santa this year. Throughout the Christmas season they have fun Christmas activities for kids. They have pictures with Santa, live reindeer, cook decorating, music, and arts and crafts. We took her there on a Saturday to check out the activities and meet Santa. We really enjoyed the arts and crafts (even though she's still too young). She liked taking the markers and attempting to color. She couldn't really decorate the cookie, so I took one for the team and did that for her :) We tried to see Santa that day, but the line was over an hour long. We ended up coming back Sunday morning before church and we were the first ones in line. Emory was kind of clingy that day, so I was certain that she would scream as soon as Santa took her. We were pleasantly surprised though! She let Santa hold her and didn't cry at all! Success!

I think that about wraps up our holiday season. Emory is changing and growing SO much! I will post later this week with an update about all the new things that she has discovered.
